Lurye LaBrie - January 19, 2013Former Doniphan resident, Lurye A. LaBrie, 94, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Good Samaritan Center, Grand Island.
Rosary will be Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Doniphan, with Father Joseph Faulkner officiating. Burial will be in Cedar View Cemetery, Doniphan. Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Memorials may be given to St. Ann’s Catholic Church, AseraCare Hospice, or Grand Island Central Catholic High School. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family. Condolences may be sent to www.lbvfh.com.
Lurye was born Dec. 3, 1918, in rural Trumbull, to Myron L. and Agnes C. (Frasier) Rader. She was a graduate of Trumbull High School in 1936. On Sept. 7, 1938, she married Glenn A. LaBrie at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Giltner. They farmed near Giltner until they retired in 1980 and moved to Doniphan. Glenn preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1999. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Altar Society, Hastings Deanery, and Crosier Apostolate. Lurye was very active with her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
Lurye was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn A. LaBrie; grandson, Bartt LaBrie; sisters, Mary Schmidt, Carleen Bieck, Janet Soucie; brother, Robert Rader.
Survivors include her children, Margaret (Loren) Baxa of Doniphan, Jody (Carol) LaBrie of Doniphan, Donna (Don) Simcoe of Palm Harbor, Fla., David (Sandy) LaBrie of Minden, JoAnne (Tom) Lambert of Giltner, Richard (Toni) LaBrie of Giltner, Tom (Parma) LaBrie of Grand Island, Tim (Lori) LaBrie of Colby, Kan., Francis (Lea) LaBrie of Hastings, Jeff (Sharlene) LaBrie of Grand Island; 29 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren; sister, Pat Helton of Hastings; many nieces, nephews and cousins
