While yields from Hamilton County’s 2012 corn crop would dispute it, the latest forecast from the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service indicates Nebraska’s corn crop will end up 17 percent below last year’s yield.

Based on Nov. 1 conditions, Nebraska’s corn crop is forecast at 1.27 billion bushels, down 2 percent from last month’s forecast.

Yield is forecast at 139 bushels per acre, 21 bushels below last year and three bushels below last month’s forecast.
