Hampton had a lot of time to think about its season finale game with close to a three-hour road trip north Thursday night.
It was a bit of a slow start but once the defense started clicking, the points were flowing.
Hampton utilized two pick sixes as well as four total interceptions as the Hawks raced Santee 49-7 to round out the regular season.
Drake Schafer was everywhere for Hampton defensively, including a pair of pick sixes and three INTs in total. Justin Gyhra added two scores of his own, including a 65-yard run immediately after his own defensive interception.
Hampton finishes the 2021 season with a 4-4 record, its best since 2011. Now the Hawks wait to see if they can sneak into the D6 playoffs with a bit of help from other results Friday night. Watch our website and social media channels for updates through the weekend.
