Miller named National Merit Finalist -- Atticus Miller will have the unique distinction when he walks across the stage Saturday as an Aurora High School graduate as being one of only 15,000 students across the country named as a National Merit Scholarship Program Finalist. He reflects on the high honor in this week's ANR.

Go Big Give event raises $1.5 million -- The Heartland United Way and Greater Grand Island Community Foundation hosted the 11th annual Go Big Give event Thursday. Excluding match pool funds and incentive prizes, $294,661 was raised for 27 Hamilton County nonprofit organizations, being among the 155 organizations that raised a total of $1,514,901 with 5,924 donations given across all four counties. HCF announces 2023-24 scholarship recipients -- This year $383,750 was awarded in 182 separate scholarships through the Hamilton Community Foundation scholarship program. The scholarship recipients are listed on Pages C 6-8  of this week’s ANR.

Hornets fly their graduation caps high -- Giltner Public Schools faculty, family and friends celebrated the accomplishments of 20 graduating seniors Sunday, capping off their days in orange and black with an emotion-filled graduation ceremony. Coverage in this week's ANR.

Hawks take moment to stop, look around -- In keeping with their class quote, “Life moves pretty fast; if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it,” (a quote from classic movie character Ferris Bueller) the 15 members of the Hampton High School Class of 2024 appeared to savor every moment of their graduation exercises on Saturday. They took the pictures, made their speeches, rang the school bell, played in the band, sang in the choir and finally walked the stage to receive their diplomas, all while celebrating the warm fellowship of their classmates and the adulation of friends and family.
