Marlene Troester - January 11, 2013Marlene B. Troester, 88, went to her final home in heaven from her earthly home near Hampton on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton with Pastor James Gruber and Pastor Kevin McReynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery near Hampton. Visitation is Monday, Jan. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton.

Marlene Grace Baack was born on April 13, 1924, near Hampton to Barthold and Lillie (Brauer) Baack. She attended Zion Lutheran and Hampton Public Schools, was baptized on April 13, 1924, and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church on March 21, 1937. She graduated from Hampton Public school in 1941, attended Grand Island Business School and then went on to work in war plants in Seattle, Lincoln, and Denver. On March 31, 1946, Paul E. Troester and Marlene Baack were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church near Hampton. They lived on the family farm southwest of Hampton and farmed and operated a Grade A dairy. She enjoyed taking care of the baby calves and helping her husband as a farm wife.
Marlene was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Aurora. A later year hobby/business was Troester Floral. Flower gardens and making World Relief Quilts were favorite pastimes.
Those left to cherish her memory are three sons, David and Sharyn Troester of O’Neill, Bruce and Vicki Troester of Marsland, Steve and Debra Troester of Hampton; one daughter, Beth and Dennis Andrews of Hampton; one sister, Glenda and Karl Borkenhagen of Omaha; one sister-in-law, Willa Dee (Troester) Thoen of Bellevue, Wash.; 13 grandchildren, Denise and Bob Litz (Grant and Mason) of O’Neill, Aaron and Jennifer Troester (Julia and Barrett) of O’Neill, Will and Sarah Troester of Alliance, Lane Troester and Kelly Troester both of Marsland, Jennifer and Matt Dunn of Minneapolis,Minn., Jeff and Kim Troester (Jack and Judah) of Aurora, John Troester of Lincoln, Joe and Allie Troester of Seward, Paul and Katrina Andrews of Page, Julie and Stephen Reha (AnnaLiese, Eliot, and Izaiah) of Aurora, Eric Andrews of Boise, Idaho, and MaryLou Andrews of Waco, Texas, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her parents Barthold and Lillie, one sister and brother-in-law – Leila and Don Ackerson.
Her life was her family, her family was her life; her life was well lived.
