Dolores A. Kropp, age 88, formerly of Aurora, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2016, in Lincoln surrounded by family, healthcare professionals, and Tabitha Hospice caregivers.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, September 30 at the United Methodist Church, 1104 A Street, Aurora. Rev. Karla Sheffy will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to Tabitha Hospice Care Services, Lincoln, Nebraska. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Dolores was born on January 24, 1928 in Norfolk, and received her primary and secondary education in Stanton. After high school, Dolores attended Wayne State College alongside her lifetime love, friend, and partner, Bill Kropp. They married on Jan. 8, 1949 and together raised a family of four children. After seeing the children through elementary school, Dolores returned to college to complete her degree in elementary education at Kearney State College. She began her teaching career in Aurora, and enjoyed over thirty years in the profession of education.
Dolores is warmly remembered by her loved ones for the infinite sacrifices she made to ensure that each was provided opportunities for health, happiness, and success. She was a gentle soul with a quick and easy smile and a giving heart. The most fitting tribute to her life would be remembrance of her humility and unwavering strength and purpose. She will never be forgotten and will be forever remembered for her devotion, sacrifice, and steadfast love of family.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Kropp and is survived by their four children, John Kropp (Karen) of Grand Island; Mary Greenfield (Stan) of Lincoln; Judy Kropp of Lincoln; and Tom Kropp (Sonja) of Kearney; brothers John Kane of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Don Kane (Joanne) of Missouri Valley, Iowa; sister Linda Marshall (Robert) of Springhill, Florida; seven grandchildren, Kari Voss, Jenny Goess, Jay Kropp, Pete Kropp, Sam Greenfield, Ben Greenfield, and Dominique Kropp; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
