Siebrass set to open Feather Your Nest PDF E-mail

by James Hanson

For some, their home is like their sanctuary. It’s like their personal nest.

Jane Siebrass and her husband, Dave, of Aurora hope to help customers feather that nest with a new business bearing the same name.

Feather Your Nest Design and Gallery is a dream 13 years in the making which will open soon near downtown Aurora.

"I had been wanting to do this for some time," Jane said.

Art has been Jane’s passion since childhood and she specializes in sketches and painting. She also has an interest in interior decorating and design, working for the last 11 years in the design and retail business.

"I’ve always loved art," she said. "I’m an artist at heart, I always have been and always will be."

Siebrass is also a member of the Aurora Area Artisans Association. She said her hopes for the business is to provide people with a variety of services and products.

Feather Your Nest Design and Gallery, located at 1016 M St. across from Super Foods, will feature original artwork from local artists, accent and custom furniture, upholstery work, table top design, garden decor, lamps, lighting fixtures, wall decor, custom holiday decorating, room layouts and antiques, combining the old with the new and various other small gift items.

She said she hopes to do interior design work for both homes and businesses.

"For me it’s about making a person’s house more comfortable and more fitting for that individual," she said. "I have had tremendous support from the other businesses in town as well as my friends and I’m excited to be a part of the business community."

"I’m also excited to have this avenue to display the local artists’ artwork," she added.

Jane said she got the name of the business from a book titled "Feather Your Nest," which is all about making a house cozy and more of a home. She said the title fit with what she hopes to assist others in doing through her business.

The couple expects to have the business fully opened by early next week.

"We’re waiting on a little more product and inventory," Dave Siebrass said. "It’s definitely getting closer though. It’s been a long process."

Jane said she can visit the home or customers can bring the floorplan to her, whichever they prefer.

"I want to help with choosing paint colors, carpet, hard flooring, room arrangement and adding to the accessories they already have," she said. "I really want to help my customers turn their house into a home."

Jane said they do hope to expand in time and offer other more services and products.

"We would like to offer a computer design program in the future as well," she said.

The couple also hopes to develop a website.

Feather Your Nest Design and Gallery will be a part of the Open Studios Art Show, held on Oct. 30, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

Jane said she would like to host other events in the evenings.

"Things like a ladies night out or a wine tasting," she said. "We want to host special events."

"For me, I just want to provide excellent customer service," she added, "and offer high-end products at a great price. I know I will continue to keep adapting to customers’ needs."
