Hampton says yes to city hall PDF E-mail

Hampton voters gave a thumbs up Tuesday to a village board proposal to tear down the existing city hall and build a new one in its place.

With 126 voters saying yes and 65 saying no, the village board now has the green light to begin making both demolition and construction plans, which chairman Dane Schafer said will start as soon as possible.

“I think this is an exciting time for Hampton,” Schafer said upon hearing the vote total. “Clearly, I think it shows that the residents are wanting to take the next step and move in the direction of progress like we’ve been doing. This is really just a continuation of a direction Hampton has been heading for many years.”
