Nebraska may be the nation’s fourth windiest state, but when it comes to utilizing the wind as an energy resource, the Cornhusker state falls woefully short.
That’s the finding in a 26-page special report generated by the Sierra Club last year and now promoted by the Nebraska Center for Rural Affairs in an effort to stimulate interest in and production of wind energy.
“Real investment and innovation in wind energy could result in 14,000 new jobs and an additional $690 million in annual income by 2030,” notes John Crabtree, media director at the center.
