The city’s largest single construction project in the past five years sent the 2012 building permit total soaring in December as the Aurora Cooperative began building its new $8 million corporate headquarters.

That year-end surge boosted the final tally to $13.9 million, more than double the value of building permits issued at City Hall last year. It was a relatively strong year across the board, with 14 new single-family dwellings going up (an increase from 10 each of the previous two years) and 116 total permits issued, up from 93 last year.
