Old House Cafe opens in Hampton PDF E-mail

The owners of Hampton’s newest eatery want their customers to feel at home.
Just come in and relax, say partners Lisa Cerveny and Devin Klute, who opened the Old House Cafe in early May with the hope of creating a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. If the Highway 34 interior decor looks like an old-home kitchen and dining room, well, that’s because it is.
“What we wanted is for people to come in and feel at home,” Klute said. “People say it’s nice and homey in here and that they really like the atmosphere. It’s like they are eating in someone’s kitchen.”
That feeling is reflected in the business name as well.
“We worked for weeks on the name,” Klute admitted. “That was the one of the hardest parts, just trying to come up with a name for the business. It’s in an old house, so we decided to call it the Old House Cafe. It just seemed to fit.”
Cerveny and Klute have cooked together for years, so the decision to go into business together seemed a good fit as well. Cerveny is a Kansas native who has lived in the community for 11 years, while Klute is a homegrown Hampton girl.
