Debate begins on who should pay for courthouse repairs PDF E-mail

Now that the slate has been firmly attached to Hamilton County Courthouse roof to prevent a recurrence of falling shingles, the battle has begun over who pays for the repairs.

Hamilton County commissioners believe they hold no responsibility. They have the roof insured, took safety precaution until it was repaired and contacted Midwest Engineering to resolve issues with the slate shingles on the courthouse towers.

The Aurora Huskies won the B-3 District Golf Meet Monday, led by the 1-2 finish of brothers Luke and Ben Grossnicklaus. Luke sunk a 10-foot putt on the final hole to win by a one-stroke margin. To hear interviews with all five Husky golfers, click on the Soundslides link at right.

 
State bound PDF E-mail

The Huskies emerged from the B5 District Track Meet with several state qualifiers, including Colton Allen who placed sixth in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles, but qualified anyway based on time. Athletes in all six places in the event are headed to the state meet at Omaha Burke May 17-18. Also qualifying were Abby Collingham in the pole vault; the 3200 meter relay team of Allison Penner, Emily Braun, Maggie Grosshans and Ashley Caudill; Ben McQuiston in both the high jump and 800 meter run and Taylor Thiele in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdle races. Multiple athletes from Giltner, Hampton and High Plains also will make the trip to state.
