High Plains stormed back from a 20-14 second quarter deficit to roll past Bloomfield 76-28 in the first round of the Class D1 football playoffs Thursday. Top-rated Giltner had no trouble in its first-round game against Hay Springs, exploding for 90 points to advance with a 90-14 victory. District volleyball brackets PDF E-mail

Aurora's 23-10 volleyball team has secured the No. 2 seed in the B-5 district at Kearney High School and will face No. 3 seed Holdrege (17-12) on Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. Top seed Grand Island Northwest (30-2) will face the winner of Hastings (10-19) vs. Lexington (0-27) at 7:30, those two winners advancing to the district final on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. for the right to go to state. The Huskies currently are ninth in wildcard points.
