Huskies, Hornets, Storm advance in playoffs PDF E-mail

The Giltner and High Plains football teams both advanced to the second round with 8-man playoff wins Thursday, and the Aurora Huskies made it three for three win a dramatic win Friday over Plattsmouth. The Huskies scored in the final two minutes to break a tie, then sacked the Blue Devil QB as he was trying to make a Hail Mary pass from midfield with less than 10 seconds to go.The Big Red will travel to McCook Friday for a 6 p.m. rematch against the Bison, a team they beat in the season opener.

High Plains hit the ground running in Class D1, shutting out Emerson-Hubbard 30-0 to advance to a second-round match against Exeter-Milligan, the team that ended the Storm’s season a year ago.
Giltner, the defending state champion in Class D2, had to come back from a third-quarter deficit and hung on to defeat Lawrence-Nelson 28-26. They advanced to a second-round matchup at undefeated Nebraska Lutheran in Waco.
