Area 8-man teams went 1-1 in the second round of the playoffs Wednesday.
Giltner never trailed in knocking off then-unbeaten Nebraska Lutheran 44-12. It sets up a quarterfinal showdown at 3 p.m. Tuesday between the Hornets and Wynot, rated second and third in Class D2.
High Plains saw its season come to an end in a hard-fought 24-6 battle against D1 top-rated Exeter-Milligan. The Storm ends the year with an 8-2 record.

They came to help a friend in need.
Not long after word spread Saturday about the tragic death of Lauren Akerson, friends and neighbors began planning a harvest bee to help her husband, Steve. A small army of volunteers showed up Sunday for what was planned as the first of two work days, but by Sunday night all 560 acres of standing corn had been picked and trucked to nearby elevators in Murphy, Marquette and Aurora.
