Aurora alumni tournament set for tipoff this weekend

The 35th edition of the Bill Kropp and Curly Penner Memorial Alumni Basketball Tournament is set for tipoff Saturday morning with the Class of 2018 looking for a three-peat.
The Class of 2018 defeated the combo class of 2008/10 last season, 39-29. Last year’s tournament had 13 teams with 149 players in attendance.
The 2024 edition will also feature 13 teams with approximately 140 players rostered between 2001 through 2023. 
The Aurora alumni tournament is also under new coordination as Tyler Jensen has taken over for John and Pat Miller. Zach High is also listed as a committee member. 
Games are slated to tip off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning with action throughout Saturday and Sunday, culminating with a 3 p.m. championship game Sunday.
The defending champs of 2018 have a first round bye, as well as the Class of 2017 and 2008/10.
The first game Saturday morning is 2011 taking on 2020 at 8:30 before two games at 9:30, 2012 battling 2022/23 as well as 2013 taking on 2019.
The 10:30 slate inlcudes 2016 battling 2001/07 as well as 2015 taking on 2021. 
All games will be played in the Aurora Sports Complex split between two courts. Semifinal games Sunday start at 12 and 1 with the championship game at 3 p.m. 
Back this year is the three-point contest sponsored by Aurora Physical Therapy at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Tyler Jensen is the defending champion.
