Donald Janzen, age 88, of Lincoln, formerly of Aurora, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Gateway Vista in Lincoln.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19 at Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Rev. Bob Gannon will officiate.   Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Pleasant View Bible Church. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Pleasant View Bible Church.   Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.   Condolences may be sent to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Donald Janzen, the son of John H. and Anna (Weins) Janzen was born in Henderson, on March 24, 1935. He went to meet his Heavenly Father on March 14, 2024 at the age of 88.
Don grew up and attended grade schools in York and Hamilton Counties.   He graduated from Aurora High School in 1953.  He then attended Tabor College for two years.
Don was united in marriage to Priscilla Fast in San Jose, CA on June 5, 1955.   Following their marriage they lived in Denver, CO for two years.  In 1957 they moved to a farm southwest of Aurora where they farmed until 1984.   Don also worked for Tamy Co. in Aurora for 1½ years and Northern Pump and Irrigation in Henderson for 18½ years.   They moved to Lincoln in May 2023 to be closer to family.
Don was a longtime member of the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora where he served on the church board and taught Sunday school and AWANA for 20 years.   He especially enjoyed woodworking where he made many projects for his children and grandchildren. He was considered Mr. Fix-It by grandkids and everyone else around.   Don also loved raising violets and did so for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Deborah Ann Janzen, grandson, Joshua David Hein; son-in-law, J. David Hein; sister, Donna (Dale) Reiswig and brother, Marlin Janzen
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Priscilla of Lincoln; children, Verlin K. (Mary Lou) Janzen of Kimberling City, MO, Sheryl L. (Gary) Oldham of Lincoln, Karen L. ((Lynn) Buller of Lincoln, Sharon M. (Doug) Loewen of Hillsboro, KS and Renee J. Hein of Lincoln; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.   He is also survived by his sister, Janice (Jake) Klassen on Inman, KS; brother, Gary (Kathy) Janzen of Newton, KS; sister-in-law, Luella Janzen of Hillsboro, KS and many nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
